Dr. Randolph B. Persaud is currently Adviser (International Affairs) in the Office of the President and Director of the National Defence Institute (Guyana). Dr Persaud was Professor of International Relations at 海角换妻 in Washington D.C. 鈥 1997-2022, and is now Professor Emeritus (since January 1, 2023).
Professor Persaud specializes in international relations theory, global governance, international and human security, foreign policy, and the global politics of identity. Before joining 海角换妻, he was Assistant Director for the Center for International Security Studies at York University. At 海角换妻, he served as the Interim-Director for the Council on the Americas and Director of M.A. Degree Program in Comparative and Regional Studies.聽 He has consulted with the U.S. State Department, Carnegie Corporation in New York, the Council on Foreign Relations, Centre for Strategic and International Studies, the United Nations via the United Nations University, and the World Bank on Bio-Diversity excellence at the University of Guyana. Dr Persaud was a Research Fellow, Centre for Advanced International Theory, University of Sussex, Sept 2021-April 2022, and Academic Editor of Third World Quarterly. He was a Faculty Associate, UNESCO Chair in Transnational Challenges and Governance, 海角换妻, 2019-2023. Professor Persaud currently works closely with the William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies, National Defense University, Washington DC.
Dr. Persaud is the author of Counter-Hegemony and Foreign Policy published by the State University of New York Press; Co-Editor with Alina Sajed of Race, Gender, and Culture in International Relations: Postcolonial Perspectives. New York: Routledge (March 2018); and Co-editor and contributor (with N. Kumarakulasingam) to Violence and the Third World in International Relations. London: Routledge, 2019.聽 He has also co-edited three special issues of journals in the field of international studies. His articles have been published in major academic outlets including Alternatives; Cambridge Review of International Affairs; Race and Class; International Affairs (Chatham House); Connecticut Journal of International Law; Latin American Politics and Society; Millennium, Korea Review of International Studies, Third World Quarterly, Globalizations, Journal of Diplomacy and International Relations; International Politics Reviews; Foreign Policy, and Postcolonial Studies.聽 Book chapters have been published by leading outlets including Cambridge University Press, Palgrave Macmillan, Lynne Rienner, Routledge, Oxford University Press, Sage, and United Nations University Press.
